Korea YongPyong Ski Resort

Year 2007, December 29, I didn't expect myself to enjoy skiing. I am a cautious person who don't play sports and anything dangerous. Now I regret having picked the tour package that has only a half day session at the ski resort :( that gave us a 2 hours of skiing only. We are told not to carry our camera with us while skiing... and in a rush I forgot to take shots of the ski resort. This photo is from the Yongpyong Resort website, it shows the area where I start off with, carrying our heavy equipments, walking clumsily to a side of the slope where our tour guide and camera man became the instructors.
They basically gave us a less than 10mins briefing, and we all take turns to do a test ski.... haha...I am the third one. I was so nervous and I lean my body backwards trying to control the sliding and there I fell on my butt. I got up quickly with the help of my tour guide and did a 2nd test.... this time I calm myself and try to lean forward slightly and look up straight. I put some part of my body weight towards the front part of my tall boots, I found myself being able to control the speed :P Having fell down from the beginning isn't a bad thing at all! From the fall, I experienced what I did wrong and managed to correct it by doing it a different way. My instructor is right, he said some people can learn skiing in 5 mins if he gets it right! Since the first fall... I did many successful ski and each time higher without falling and I also managed to make slight turns to avoid people infront.
Secretly, I think I am the best among my tour members and my tour guide gave me a praise too :) Too bad there isn't enough time, anyway I might not be physically fit for longer play. Now, back in Singapore, I am considering to try out Snow City at Jurong....... and perhaps I will be back again to Korea during winter someday.
